What happens during a worship service?
People tend to describe the atmosphere of our worship gathering as meaningful, uplifting and very “real”. During a typical worship service, there will be some extended times of singing, prayer, and a message that will be focused on applying Biblical truth to our everyday lives. We care less about the production of a church service and more about spending time in the presence of the Lord.
Our greatest joy is to continually hear people tell us, “I really experience God in amazing ways here.”
How long is a service?
Our services begin at 9:00 and 10:45. A normal service usually lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.
What type of music will I experience?
We love all types of music and tend to use a wide variety of instruments to lead our church in song. Most would describe our music style as “contemporary,” yet, rarely a Sunday will go by without an ancient hymn or two being blended into our joy-filled praise.
How should I dress?
Come as you are! We try to emphasize that God cares very little about the outward appearance but cares a lot about the heart! Most people are dressed casually.
Will there be someone to help me find my way around?
Visiting a new church can be an uncomfortable and somewhat intimidating experience. We want you to feel welcomed and valued here at Antioch. We have greeters that will help you in any way that they can, an information table that has resources to fill you in on any questions you might have and many people that would genuinely love to meet you!
Is there a kid’s program?
Yes… and it is wonderful. We value our children and believe that the greatest thing that we could ever do is to truly minister to your kids and to give them a wonderful and meaningful experience at church. We have a kid’s ministry table located in our entry and volunteers to help point you towards the nursery and our kid’s ministry rooms.
Will they be able to contact me if my child needs me?
We offer individual vibrating pagers to all nursery and toddler parents. Additionally, children through pre-school age are assigned numbers that can be used to discreetly notify parents of a need during the service.
How do I know the children’s ministries are safe?
We recognize that one of the most difficult aspects of visiting a new church is leaving your children with strangers. At Antioch, the safety of your children is of highest importance to us and we have children’s ministry volunteers who have been thoroughly screened, trained, and have undergone background checks. Parents our welcome to stay with their children at any time.
Can I bring my newborn to a worship service?
Yes of course. Jesus loves kids and so do we. However, If your baby is beginning to be a distraction to you or to others, please know that we provide a separate area where you can hear the service. Also – we encourage you to check out our nursery ministry where we have people that absolutely love little ones!
What Bible translation is used in the service?
Typically, David speaks from the English Standard Version (ESV). We will put the passages of scripture on the screen so that all can see, but we encourage you to bring whatever Bible you own to the service. If you don’t have one, let a greeter know and we would love to give you one.
